PROJECT OVERVIEW

Located near Alexandria, MN, this client was looking to build a one-level home with the possibility of aging in place. They desired high-end design and quality finishes in an approachable, timeless style. The high elevation of the lot would allow for a perfectly perched home with a panoramic view. The challenges of this lot, however, included setback restrictions to the bluff, impervious surface limitations, and side yard setbacks. The resulting design blends familiar, approachable elements with strong architectural statements, capitalizing on the view with a clear glass front entry that reveals the lake despite not being visible from the drive. The interior emphasizes hospitality, featuring oil-finished wood flooring, stained alder cabinetry, and a large limestone fireplace.

The home boasts a chef-style kitchen with high-end appliances and a display beverage bar. The dining room features a backlit, suspended nickel gap ceiling creating a moonlit ambiance, with comfortable seating encouraging conversation. The primary suite, separated from the guest wing, offers a private retreat with a vaulted nickel gap ceiling, cozy fireplace, and luxurious bathroom. Each piece of furniture and décor was carefully chosen to reflect the clients' rich life experiences.
