This project started with a kitchen that was closed off by a staircase to the upstairs and lower level. The long galley kitchen with cabinetry pushed up against the perimeter walls felt like a wide, unwelcoming hallway. The solution was to open up the staircase to both the upper and lower levels with a beautiful railing and redesign the kitchen layout with a large island for gathering around. Now the clients are now able to cook and entertain while still feeling connected to the rest of the home.
