PROJECT OVERVIEW
This long, narrow bathroom was originally configured poorly. To maintain an open feel, we opted for a symmetrical design centered around a tall linen cabinet, flanked by his and hers vanities. The bathtub was positioned at one end and the shower at the other. We could have created a seamless look by continuing the bathroom tile into the curbless shower, but we chose not to as it would have accentuated the room's length. Instead, we visually divided the space by using different tile materials for the shower floor and walls.
The compact laundry room required a multi-functional design to accommodate both homeowners and guests accessing the space from their primary bedroom and the main hallway. While maximizing storage and functionality, it was essential to maintain an open walkway through the room. A discreet drop-down ironing board and a wall-mounted, retractable drying rack efficiently utilize vertical space, while elevated washers and dryers create additional storage beneath for laundry baskets. A unique pass-through laundry hamper was strategically placed between the primary closet and the laundry room, making it easy to push through laundry on washing day.
The mudroom was designed to accommodate groups of guests arriving for day trips or extended lake stays to this lake house in Grey Eagle, MN. We incorporated a blend of concealed and open storage solutions for extra gear to enhance the mudroom’s overall functionality and guest-friendly appeal. A secondary refrigerator provides a convenient space for guests to store shared items, while a bench offers a spot to drop bags. An ice machine ensures guests can easily fill drinks and coolers for a day on the water.
